Area Manager

This position will work within DBI Operations that is responsible for the designated DBI wood pellet plant. Will work throughout the location with Engineering, Operations, Technical and Maintenance. Will work with superiors to determine the operations budget for the location. Direct Reports:
depending on assigned area Key Accountabilities:
Daily safety walks to audit housekeeping and paperwork with prompt feedback to supervisors and operations personnel Safety:
Create a Safety First culture Implement housekeeping standards to minimize hazards and to eliminate OSHA recordable and lost time injuries Walk with Safety manager, Plant manager, and Operations Managers at least once per day to assess plant housekeeping and compliance. Give frequent and timely feedback to crews, supervisors, and individuals to improve plant housekeeping and dust score, audit plant housekeeping Develop training manuals, standard operating procedures, and Lock-Out Tag-Out documents including creation and annual reviews of JRA/TRA of area Must oversee the completion of operator logs and records where necessary to record plant inspections, adjustments, and operating parameters daily Will take part in interviews that involve applicants for operator roles Area managers may provide input and/or training suggestions to operators that fall in their area Must assist in handling crew member complaints and direct to the appropriate Manager and/or Human Resources Manager Required to follow the progressive discipline process for employees and recommend appropriate discipline based on the incident with human resources partnership Ensure that health and safety programs and plans are implemented in accordance with all applicable regulatory requirements Ensure that the biomass is produced in compliance with the manufacturing and quality specifications Communicate and support the philosophy of the Continuous Improvement Process Continuously encourage, seek, identify, and implement the means and methods to improve plant productivity and efficiency without compromising product quality, safety or environmental Manage the day-to-day operations including personnel and equipment of designated area; support the shift supervisors needs for running day to day operations by monitoring the health of the equipment and auditing operator checklists. This needs to be done at a high-level allowing supervisors to make normal operational calls Qualifications Behaviors Preferred Functional Expert:

Salary Range:
$150K -- $200K
Minimum Qualification
Quality Management, Operations ManagementEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
